Food Banks Campaign Helps Feed the Future

Published: Nov 22, 2018

In a partnership that’s been in place since 2010, Nutrien is proud to once again support the Food Banks of Saskatchewan holiday campaign.

During the campaign, which runs through the end of December, we will match the first $500,000 in cash donations made to food banks across the province.

“Nearly 45 percent of food bank users in Saskatchewan are children and youth. That’s an eye-opener because food is a basic need, no different than shelter or clothing,” says Susan Jones, Executive Vice President and CEO of Potash at Nutrien. “Our purpose at Nutrien is to grow our world from the ground up. That begins with our local communities and ensuring people have enough healthy food to build a good life for themselves and their families.”

Funds raised will be allocated to 30 food banks across the province for distribution to those in need.

“We’re grateful for the work they do and are pleased to support such a worthwhile campaign,” Susan adds. “We know the generous people of Saskatchewan are ready to once again meet this challenge.”

Since 2010, over $20 million has been raised from this campaign.

In addition to providing food to the hungry, the Food Banks of Saskatchewan organization also offers programs and services like community kitchens, clothing depots, income tax services, urban agriculture programs, counseling and diabetes testing.

The holiday season is a great time for giving and for reaching out to others. We look forward to an exciting and successful campaign.
