Loveland Products Prevail for the Planet

At Nutrien, we are driven by our Purpose and committed to minimizing the impact of our operations on the planet by fostering environmental stewardship at our sites.

Nutrien is extremely proud to announce that Loveland Products won a Bronze Achiever award from the 2018 Colorado Environmental Leadership Program (ELP). This statewide program recognizes exceptional companies that go above and beyond regulations to safeguard the environment.

"We heard about the program from the Colorado EPA and realized we were already doing most everything laid out in the program and then some, " says Joey Maher, Manager of the Loveland Products plant in Greeley, Colorado. " It was a good way to highlight our facility and our employees for doing the right thing when no one is looking."

Loveland Products is part of Nutrien's Retail business, offering high-performance crop input products. The facility in Greeley employs about 25 people, and produces agricultural adjuvants and water conditioners.

The site has gone to exceptional lengths in its recycling efforts, diverting over 12,000 tons of waste from the landfill and saving thousands of dollars in disposal costs.

The site also teamed up with the City of Greeley and installed a waste water pre-treatment and disposal system, which saves roughly 400,000 gallons of water a year from being disposed of in the landfill. Instead, the water is treated by the city and discharged back to local rivers, ensuring it can be used a second time for irrigation and reducing the site’s waste disposal costs.

"We adjust our formulations to re-use rinse water where possible. For larger volume products, this can save over 20,000 gallons of fresh water use."

As the Greeley plant continues to develop its conservation efforts, Joey hopes the recognition will provide encouragement to the entire Nutrien Ag Solutions community and all our stakeholders.
