Nutrien Geismar wraps-up another successful year with Junior Achievement of Greater Baton Rouge

At Nutrien Geismar, we’re proud to partner with our local communities to make a positive impact in many important areas. Our support of the Greater Baton Rouge Junior Achievement program is one example of that, and in 2023, we made our partnership stronger than ever by rolling up our sleeves to give local young people a leg up on their future aspirations.

Teaching business skills to equip kids for success

Through our sponsorship of the Adopt-a-School program, about 15,000 elementary school kids across Iberville and Ascension, Louisiana Parishes were inspired with tools and guidance on how to create bright futures. On Junior Achievement Day, students learned basic personal finance and work-readiness concepts using fun hands-on activities. The kids provided glowing feedback on the event and expressed their appreciation on many levels. One elementary student summed it up best with this heartfelt statement: “Thanks for coming and teaching me new things that I will carry with me throughout my life.”

Hands-on mentorship, brighter futures for all

We continued to team up with Junior Achievement’s Leading Ladies mentorship program. Local female high school students enjoyed the opportunity to learn directly from businesswomen about what it’s like to work in industrial, engineering and technology industries as well as a variety of other fields. Students practiced creating a personal budget, participated in mock interviews, and even explored how to creatively solve business problems using their ingenuity and entrepreneurial thinking.

Sponsorship with a delicious twist

In May, Nutrien sponsored the annual Crawfish King Cook-Off to benefit Junior Achievement and the Big Buddy Program. This family-friendly event brought together the community for all-you-can-eat crawfish and friendly competition. More than 3,000 people attended the event and nearly $100,000 was raised to support these organizations’ mentoring missions.

Renewed commitment to creating positive outcomes for kids

In October, Nutrien Geismar renewed its commitment to improving educational outcomes and youth skill building by donating $150,000 over three years to support local Junior Achievement programs.

“Our purpose is Feeding the Future, but that goes beyond helping growers feed the world’s increasing population, said Ebonie Raby, Nutrien’s Senior Community Relations and Investment Advisor at Geismar. With partnerships like these, we’re feeding students’ minds with the knowledge and tools they’ll need for a rewarding future in the workforce. It’s all about inspiring and engaging tomorrow’s leaders, today.”
