Nutrien contributes to Australian wildfire relief

In response to the wildfires that continue to burn across Australia, Nutrien has donated AU$100,000 to BlazeAid, a not-for-profit organization that is helping farmers recover and rebuild. BlazeAid will direct the funds where they are needed most.

Additionally, all employee donations from across the company will be matched dollar-for-dollar by Nutrien.

“I’ve visited our operations in Australia many times and it’s heartbreaking to see the normally majestic views of the countryside replaced by images of orange skies, raging flames and plumes of smoke,” says President & CEO Chuck Magro.

As a company with over 4,000 employees based in Australia, Nutrien is saddened by the situation and committed to supporting recovery efforts.

“As the widespread devastation continues, our thoughts go out to all the Australian people impacted,” says Mike Frank, Executive Vice President & CEO, Retail. “This includes our many customers, who have felt the fire’s wrath, and everyone – including many of our employees – involved in relief efforts and in helping limit further damage.”

Employees in Australia continue to help in a variety of ways, including as volunteer firefighters – and Nutrien is providing employees with up to 40 hours of paid leave to assist BlazeAid in the recovery work.

“Doing what we can to help rebuild is what good neighbors do,” Mike adds.
