Unveiling Nutrien’s new ESG Report

Published: Apr 09, 2020

Nutrien is changing what it means to be an agriculture company, through our commitment to supporting growers across the globe in producing more high-quality food in a sustainable manner. Our critical role in the food supply chain has taken on that much more importance during this COVID-19 pandemic, and getting food on the table in a timely and cost-effective manner is a key focus for our organization.

Our scale, access to technology and deep relationship with the grower uniquely positions us to take a leadership role in innovative and sustainable agronomic practices. Our new ESG report is foundational for our next steps and journey in living out our purpose – to grow our world from the ground up – while living Nutrien’s core values of safety and integrity.

In addition to noting 2019 metrics such as over 5,000 acres in Nutrien-led pilot projects focused on nitrogen-use reduction, and 600 employees receiving unconscious bias training, this report offers insight into the risks and opportunities most relevant to our organization. It also outlines how we develop and implement solutions and describes how we measure progress.

We’ve also incorporated disclosures that align with the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) frameworks to support additional transparency with our stakeholders.

As the world’s largest ag solutions provider and fertilizer producer, we play a critical role in leading the next wave of sustainability for our industry. We will continue to improve our ESG performance and reporting and are working on introducing goals and specific targets related to our sustainability strategy and priorities that will be out within the next year.
