Financial Section

A. Basis of preparation

Financial Information is prepared in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards as issued by the International Accounting Standards Board ("IFRS"). All dollar amounts are stated in US dollars unless otherwise noted.

B. Non-IFRS Financial Measures

The Information includes certain non-IFRS financial measures and non-IFRS ratios, which depict historical or expected future financial performance, financial position or cash flow that, with respect to their composition, exclude amounts that are included in, or include amounts that are excluded from, the composition of the most directly comparable financial measure calculated and presented in accordance with IFRS. Such non-IFRS financial measures and non-IFRS ratios are not standardized financial measures under IFRS and, therefore, are unlikely to be comparable to similar financial measures presented by other companies. Management believes these non-IFRS financial measures and non-IFRS ratios provide transparent and useful supplemental information to help investors evaluate our financial performance, financial condition and liquidity using the same measures as management. These non-IFRS financial measures and non-IFRS ratios should not be considered as a substitute for, or superior to, measures of financial performance prepared in accordance with IFRS.

Additional information with respect to such non-IFRS financial measures and non-IFRS ratios, including, among other things, disclosure of their composition, how each non-IFRS financial measure and non-IFRS ratio provides useful information to investors and the additional purposes, if any, for which management uses each non-IFRS financial measure and non-IFRS ratio, the reason for any change in the label or composition of each non-IFRS financial measure and non-IFRS ratio from what was previously disclosed by Nutrien, and a quantitative reconciliation of each non-IFRS financial measure to the most directly comparable IFRS measure, which information was prepared in accordance with the disclosure requirements and/or guidelines under applicable securities laws in force at the time such non-IFRS financial measures and non-IFRS ratios were first disclosed or made available by Nutrien, is contained in the our management's discussion and analysis (the "MD&A") for the applicable period for each such non-IFRS financial measure and non-IFRS ratio, which information is incorporated by reference in the Information. The MD&A are available under our corporate profile on SEDAR at www.sedar.com and EDGAR at www.sec.gov and on our website at https://www.nutrien.com/investors/financial-reporting.

C. Other Financial Measures

The Information includes certain supplementary financial measures. Additional information with respect to such supplementary financial measures, including, among other things, an explanation of the composition of each supplementary financial measure, prepared in accordance with the disclosure requirements and/or guidelines under applicable securities laws in force at the time such supplementary financial measures were first disclosed or made available by Nutrien, is contained in the our MD&A for the applicable period for each such supplementary financial measure, which information is incorporated by reference in the Information.

Sustainability Section

Our sustainability disclosures are informed by best practices including metrics from the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (“SASB”) Standards and recommendations from the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (“TCFD”), which now form part of the IFRS Foundation’s International Sustainability Standards Board (“ISSB”). In addition, we report with reference to the Global Reporting Initiative (“GRI”) Standards and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (“WBCSD”) ESG Disclosure Handbook. We continue to monitor the ISSB developments and jurisdictional adoption efforts, including developments with the Canadian Sustainability Standards Board, Canadian and US securities regulators’ proposed mandatory climate-related disclosures, as well as other extraterritorial laws and regulations. We are preparing to comply with mandatory requirements if and when enacted.
