A Career that Really Takes You Places

Imagine a job that takes you all around North America, meeting people and learning about the diversity of types of food grown in the various regions... Was internal audit the job you were imagining?

“Even I would not have imagined that becoming an auditor would have involved agriculture and the job I do today,” admits Heather Johnson, Branch Auditor at Nutrien.

Hailing from Kansas, Heather grew up in an ag family. Her early childhood memories include sitting in the back of the truck to be dropped in the fields to rogue beans. Like many Nutrien employees who grew up on the family farm, she didn’t think about a career in ag from a young age because, “it isn’t something you aim for as a career necessarily, it’s just a way of life where I’m from.”

Fortunately for us, she ended up taking a job working with her local retail branch and has grown her career with us to become a Branch Auditor.

“Sometimes after the work is done, the location manager or one of the local sales team members will take me out on mini crop tours. I absolutely love to meet Nutrien’s customers and see the different crops and methods of farming I haven’t seen before. Not long ago on a trip to Mississippi I got to learn about a double crop of rice and crawfish and hear from the grower about why that works. I’m so grateful for all the experiences I’ve had with this job.”
