Nutrien Renews Partnership with STARS, Surpassing $30 Million in Support for Saskatchewan Communities
Nutrien takes great pride in supporting the communities, employees, and customers where we operate.
In a strong demonstration of this commitment, Nutrien has renewed its partnership with STARS, pledging an additional $4 million toward life-saving missions. This brings the company’s total support to more than $30 million over the past decade.
No Place Like Home
In Saskatchewan, home isn’t just a place, it’s a way of life. From Nutrien’s potash mines to the family farm, the Canadian province is built on hard work, resilience, and a deep connection to the land and each other. These values helped a small Saskatchewan company founded in 1959 grow into a global leader in crop inputs and services, supporting millions of farmers around the world as we feed a growing population.

“Safety, from our potash operations to the farm, is central to who we are,” says Ken Seitz, President and CEO of Nutrien. “Living in remote areas comes with challenges. This represents a lifeline for rural communities where help isn’t just down the road.”
Saskatchewan’s economy was founded on farming and agriculture, and rural living remains a daily reality for many of our employees. Our teams live, work and raise their families in communities where the closest hospital isn’t down the street – it may be many miles away. For those who support growers, operate our mine sites and keep our business moving, timely access to emergency care can mean the difference between life and loss. That’s why Nutrien’s support for STARS is so vital.
Impactful and Longstanding Partnership
Since 2012, Nutrien’s initial pledge helped establish STARS’ Saskatoon base and enabled over 10,000 life-saving missions, including 921 last year alone. Every mission represents someone in our communities – a neighbor, a friend, a loved one.

Each flight tells a story, like that of Adair O’Grady, a farmer who was critically injured in his field: Adair O’Grady - STARS. When a medical emergency strikes, every minute matters. Saskatchewan relies on the bright red helicopter and medical experts on board to respond when needed most.
“Nutrien has been an incredible and generous partner, helping STARS provide critical care across Saskatchewan for more than a decade,” says Dr. John Froh, President and CEO of STARS. “This amazing gift will ensure that the people of this province can continue to depend on STARS and that we will be there for them where and when they need critical care.”
Community is Everything
Nutrien employees are also helping strengthen STARS’ impact. Through the company’s matching donation program, employees across Western Canada have raised more than $100,000, further enabling STARS to support rural and remote communities.
This partnership extends far beyond emergency response – it strengthens the entire agriculture industry. Safe farms and communities create the conditions for farmers, families and businesses to thrive.
From mine to farm, and across every community in between – we’re building a future we can all be proud of – together.
