Committed to our communities

Nutrien’s commitment to Feeding the Future will include nurturing the roots of the communities where we operate through our community investment programs.

Nutrien supports employee efforts to make a positive contribution to their communities. The company just wrapped up a wildly successful series of United Way campaigns at 25 Nutrien sites across Canada, the United States and Trinidad.

Employees raised over $1.1 million US, which will be matched dollar-for-dollar by Nutrien, bringing the total to more than $2.2 million. Contributions were raised through a variety of events, including food drives, volunteering initiatives like “Make a Difference Days” and costume contests. Some activities focused on education and raising awareness through a poverty simulation exercise on the difficulty of breaking the poverty cycle.

"When we give to the United Way, we are investing in our communities and we make our communities a better place to live and work. In return, we gain empathy, perspective and a sense of purpose," says Leslie O’Donoghue, Nutrien Executive Vice President, Chief Strategy and Corporate Development Officer.

Furthermore, Nutrien will match the first $500,000 in donations made to food banks across Saskatchewan during a recent fundraising campaign. Community members were inspired to give an estimated $1.5 million to the campaign, which wraps up later this month.

"Nutrien is honored to help ensure that people in need can access healthy, nutritious food," says Nutrien President and CEO Chuck Magro.

Magro is looking forward to seeing the company continue to build positive relationships in all regions where it does business.

"Community investment was part of the DNA of both of our legacy companies, and the same is true for Nutrien," says Magro. "As part of our commitment to Feeding the Future, we want to continue to build strong relationships in our communities and invest in initiatives that make them better places to live."
